Sometimes bigger isn’t always better!
As a CM (community manager) who has worked with various influencers on different social media campaigns, I can testify to that.
When choosing an influencer you should ask yourself these three questions.
(1) What is the goal of my campaign?
(2) Is the influencer interested in my product/field?
(3) Will my target audience approve of the influencer?
I find asking these questions helps streamline the selection process.
So how do you choose the right type of influencer?
The first step would be to “Do your Research” websites like Plaqad (Nigeria only) offer you a list of potential influencers. Also, remember to ask for insights and results of past campaigns your potential influencer has worked on.
The second step would be talking to the influencer one on one, the goal of this is to find out if the influencer is genuinely interested in your product/service. e.g for beauty, makeup/lifestyle influencers like Dimma Umeh and Nkay Okwudiri would appeal more to beauty brands/lifestyle brands.
The last step is a test “screening”. Getting direct feedback from your users about the influencers is one of the best ways to select an influencer. A simple poll online or selecting a user test group can help get direct feedback from your audience.
And there you have it! with all three steps, you are sure to get the best influencer for your campaign.
