Being fired is never pleasant, but it’s a possibility for every employee. Whether you quit your job or are fired, the impact on your career can be significant. If you’ve been fired from your job, don’t panic just yet. Getting let go from a job isn’t a personal attack — it happens to the best of us. Sometimes getting fired is actually a blessing in disguise, as it opens up new opportunities and allows you to find a job that better suits your interests and strengths. However, getting fired from your job won’t look great on any resume or CV.
So my story dates back to last week when I attended a job interview with a reputed firm in the skincare industry for the post of social media executive. This reputed firm (won’t disclose the name) with over 95000 instagram followers and a blue tick is one of the leading organization here in Chandigarh. After 4 rounds of interview the HR said , congrats Hina you have been selected. Happy! My spine was chilled and I was over the moon as I got my first job that too with a reputed firm.
Day 1
Day 1 was my joining day. When I reached the office paperwork started and was completed within 2 hours , then they introduced me to the whole office. I was on cloud nine. Never ever I have imagined that I will be given such respect. I was introduced to my senior Digital manager who delegated me my first task of making a list of instagram influencers for barter collaboration in excel. Pretty easy task! I made a list of 72 influencers and submitted. Made Daily progress report submitted and left at the end of day. So my first day went quite well.
Day 2
Day 2 in my office went quite well , I did the similar task of researching and collecting data of instagram influencers. But one thing I learnt today was that they were indulging in some unethical practices. The most common was collaborating with influencers and approaching them for writing fake reviews on Amazon and Nykaa. I was shocked but maintained silence.
Day 3
A similar day went off just like day 2. I made my Daily progress report at the end of the day and left.
Day 4
Nothing new happened on Day 4, same activities happened and I was feeling a little guilty for joining such organization who is unethical. Rather improving their product they were doing a campaign in which payments were made to influencers for doing scripted positive reviews. But a shock came to me later in the evening as when I left for my home, the HR called me and told me that I have been fired because my performance is not good. Wait? What???? I became paralyzed for few seconds. HR also asked me if I had any issue with my team and I told him not a single issue I had, I did whatever was told to me and that too on time. So even the HR also doesn’t know the real reason. I was fired mercilessly. Do a fresher deserves this after getting an offer letter, what performance they wanted from a fresher within 3 days who was already doing on the job training???
