working is never an aesthetic
Why is that so that everyone I know of is getting somewhere with their life, whereas I am still stuck here, or have no sense of direction to move forward?
Well,
We all have been in that position, or some of you who are reading this are probably feeling this way at the moment.
I feel like that too.
But that is not important.
Important is what are the causes and triggers present in our life that ensure that we feel that way.
Now you might react or say, ‘Oh but there aren’t any specific triggers like that in my life.
chances are that you are wrong!
Now I am not here to rant about the use of social media or keeping up with your friends or influencers.
The question is not if seeing other people doing great at your age triggers your mind to fall into the guilt trap of not being successful enough. The real problem lies with the influences, YouTubers, and bloggers who continuously promote productivity.
The problem isn’t even about promoting productivity. When most self-help books literally talk about productivity, time management, and discipline for more than 300 pages. Yet in the end, they make you feel somewhat motivated to recognize the roots of your laziness.
However, the problem lies with the new notion that has taken over the internet these days.
“ productivity is a new aesthetic’’
The aesthetic of any genre used to be about its surroundings and the way it makes you feel that certain feeling. However, the current productive wave has turned itself into a toxic malicious aesthetic vibe. I would like to put it that way!
It would be weird if you have never come across any TikTok, Instagram, Reel, or youtube video of people aesthetically showing their productivity.
Now with aesthetic, I mean a video of a person working filmed diligently, portrayed beautifully, and shown directionally with some kind of soothing song.
At first, it looks beautiful and satisfactory to watch these, but as the algorithm of any of these sites works, you will be then bombarded with thousands of videos on the same niche. Thousands of people show their day-to-day work or study routines where it all looks just so effortless.
whereas, the reality is different.
You can feel exhausted! tired! or just directionless!
But these videos say anyway.
The videos that you started watching just for the fun would now turn into another trigger or alarm making you feel little or somewhat disappointed in yourself.
You would start feeling as if there something is wrong with you.
Questions like how come these people are doing all of these things with such joy, without any trace of tiredness? How come they have figured out everything? Is it all my fault? Am I the lazy one? will intoxicate your brain with time.
These so-called motivational videos will just become another addition to make you feel dissatisfied, little, and unproductive in your life.
Now! not only do you have friends, influencers, and celebrities to compare yourself with, you’ve got new aesthetic promoters. Shoving up their aesthetic world( that doesn’t exist) into your throats, unconsciously guilt trapping your mind into thinking of itself as a little one.
so and so, that with days passing. you will feel directionless, unmotivated, and so behind everyone that you will end up saying.
I QUIT!
